What’s included?
The magazine itself is a sensory experience from start to finish. For the Deaf audience, one of their senses is compromised. Therefore colours, textures and print finishes create a visual explosion on every page. Similarly, every article included in the magazine has a different treatment of typography and style of imagery. Each person within the Deaf community is unique and special in their own way, and this is represented within Deafhood’s articles.
Each issue will contain an interview with an influential Deaf person, at least one current affairs article and a selection of articles about the arts in the Deaf community.
Across all issues, to continue a loose theme for stock choice, pink stock must be used for current affairs, green for positive individual experiences, and blue for feature interviews. There is no theme for the colour of the other articles, other that they need to be bright and vibrant!

Social media and Deafhood in the future
The main objective of Deafhood is to join people together to create a sense of community. Social media will allow this connection to reach more people.
The posts on social media will include promotions of upcoming articles in the next issue, and illustrations by Deaf creatives, not to mention updates from Deafhood headquarters.
Each issue is released biannually, as this allows enough time for relevant stories to reach the Deafhood team. As long as there are Deaf people, Deafhood will keep creating magazines to connect them into the future.
Inspiration
When sourcing articles for my magazine, it was important for me to gain a first hand perspective of what it's like to be deaf. I am lucky enough to have learnt British Sign Language at university, and this is what inspired me to do this magazine in the first place! It was here that I stepped into the Deaf community, for just a few hours a week, and was able to learn so much about their community's journey. My tutor, Ilan Dwek (who features in Deafhood) introduced me to a blogger, Deafie Blogger, who writes regularly about her experiences being profoundly Deaf. From here I was, and still am in awe of the challenges Deaf people face and how they overcome them with such bravery. Below is a link to her blog page, hopefully you can be inspired too!
